~ Busy Bees ~

Where to even begin! We have been so busy with life and wedding stuff I can hardly think about anything else lol... I am so close to having everything finished for the wedding! I have too many big things left to get but we will make it work... We got out engagements done two days ago and I absolutely love the ones I have seen!! I will post more when I get them tomorrow... My sister-in-law Leslie is an awesome photographer and we are lucky she took our pics for us... She is amazing!!! :)
I ordered my bouquet and all the other flowers from a lady on Etsy.... Etsy is my favorite right now!! :) The pic below is similar to what it will look like but when we get it we will be adding a few things to it... I couldn't see getting real flowers that would die and I couldn't keep and cherish... I love everything I have got so far!! :)

My nice ex-husband and yes I said nice haha is making me a cupcake tower like this one to show off our way cute cupcakes we will have as part of dessert after our wedding dinner... I am going to decoupage some of my damask scrapbook paper I got for the wedding on the center columns when I get it too! :)

There is so much more to post but I will write more when I get our engagements to put up!! :)

Keepin' on Keepin' on

I have been in a MAJOR wedding planning mode the last week and a half!! I have gotten almost everything bought, ordered and either in the process of being made or made... I am starting to get excited that things are starting to come together and look AWESOME!!!!
Etsy is my new best friend... I have found everything on there other than the stuff I am making! I am excited to get a lot of the custom ordered stuff I got with our monogram and wedding date on it... I found a lady who is custom making a unity candle that is all damask print with our monogram, first initials and wedding date on it... our ring pillow, flower girl basket, pen/holder, and guest book are all custom as well with damask print with fuchsia ribbon... the guest book also has our monogram and wedding date... I am really loving there are women that make all these things so I don't have to LOL :)
I just got the garters I ordered today and I am glad I chose the ones I did! There was another one I was going to get that was $38 and then I found the two I got for $10 for both!!! Bargain shopper hehe :P
I got our fabric shipped to us the other day and I was a little nervous it wasn't going to look the same in person as it does on the photo on the website but it does and I love it so much... this is what I finally chose for our runners for the tables...

I had a lot of people tell me they loved it and others tell me they didn't like it as much as my other choices but in the end it is what Dan and I want right?! =D It is going to go really well with the centerpieces I made... We are going to put votive candles around the centerpieces with a round piece of tulle under them.
I need a little help deciding on what flower is going to go well with the gerber daisies I have used.... this is the one thing I am having a hard time with!
We are having cupcakes for dessert after our dinner and Ben is helping me make a cupcake tower for them... Everywhere I looked they either didn't hold as many cupcakes as I needed or they were ridiculously priced... even for the cardboard ones they were at least $35!!! I think it will turn out pretty cool!
Ben is also helping me make the arbor and cake stand so I can get what I want and know it will be well made... Yes I know it is weird my ex-husband is making things for my wedding but we actually get along pretty well so it is OK :)
While I was up in Logan this last week I got Hailey's dress plus the boys outfits... If only getting Tyler's dress was that easy haha!! We are just getting Dan a suit instead of renting a penguin suit and I just need to go pick up my dress...
Now all I have left is to finalize the food for our luncheon and I am pretty much done planning... WOOHOO!!!!

A Few Updates

We have decided to do some changes to our wedding to save money and our sanity LOL!! Thanks to a lot of people who are letting me borrow some linens and helping me with a few other things I know it will still be awesome!! =D
I have started making a few decorations and getting the material for the runners I am going to make so I am feeling like things are coming together finally... Below is the picture of the centerpieces for the tables... Like them? :)

We booked our 7 day cruise for our honeymoon/vacation... Mexican Riviera here we come! We are going in September with a few other people and it is going to be so much fun! Right after we get married in July Dan & I are just going to go on a weekend getaway somewhere closer to home and then have our big honeymoon in September to top things off :)
I am so excited that we only have 4 more months to go... time has gone fast and now the countdown begins... I hope I get everything done in time :)

~ History of Mendon Station Where We Are Getting Married ~

In 1918 the old Cache Valley Railroad was merged with the Ogden, Logan and Idaho Railroad to form the Utah Idaho Central Railroad or UIC as most people knew it by. The company had street cars in Logan, Ogden and Brigham City. The main line went from Ogden to Preston, ID along the old Utah Northern grade as far as Mendon. There were passengers as well as a dedicated freight unit. The route in Cache Valley went from Mendon, Wellsville, Hyrum, Millville, Providence, Logan, Hyde Park, Smithfield, Richmond, Lewiston and on to Preston in Idaho. Before the Cache County School District had buses, it used the dedicated school trains to move students to North Cache and South Cache high schools.
The Utah Idaho Central or UIC was in Mendon from 1916 until early 1947, when it stopped operations. The Station on Mendon has been refinished with a kitchen and restrooms added to the west side of the building. Contractor Paul Willie and his crew helped restore and save the building.
William, Isaac Sorenson had a coal business in back of the Mendon Station for many years. He would order in a car or more at a time and dispense it to the people of Mendon. You could pick it up yourself or he would bring it to you for a small charge. This service helped Mendon boom. There is a switch which you can see if the picture above to show where he pulled the coal car in and would switch it to go the other way to send it back.

At one time, after the trains had stopped running through Mendon in about 1947 or 1948, one half of the building was used as the post office and the other half an apartment.
What has come to be called the Mendon Station, has had several names in the past. The town is indeed lucky to have such a historic building in such wonderful restored condition. Paul Willie and his crew were able to use private money and time donations to restore the building. Mendon Station is one of the last older community structures left in Mendon.

I had no idea all the history of this building. There is a lot more about it too! This is just a small clip of it... I am finding it pretty cool that we get to be married in an old train station :)

~ Its Coming Together ~

I have been planning some of our wedding and am starting to get really excited! I got our color scheme all figured out except I need help picking one thing... Below is the color scheme I have picked out for our linens and some of the decorations I am making... There are two different colors of damask fabric I like but am leaning more towards the pink & lime green because then I don't have to get as much fabric and I won't have to get a lot of the plain pink & green. We will have the main table cloths be black with the damask fabric as the overlay... Thoughts on this anyone? Which one should I get?
I am having Dan's brother Ken help me make an arbor for us to stand under to get married... If I find one that is cheaper to buy I will but we have a lot of extra wood so why not make one :) I am also going to be making some stands that I will use to run tulle from one to another that lead to the front door where I want people to come in at.
I have also decided on some decorations, our cake and some refreshments... Its coming along.. WooHoo!! =D

Slowly but Surely

I have taken a little break from planning our wedding until the holidays are over... I have still been writing down ideas and checking prices on things though! We still have 7 months until our wedding day so I have plenty of time still right?! I have had one major (OK well major to me) set back in my planning... I had my dress all picked out and was making payments on it and then my guilt got to me! We have been having some financial stresses since Dan lost his job and can't find another one that he can make as much money at yet... I decided to go get all of my money back from my dress to help with Christmas for the kids and family... I feel good about it but now the dress search is on again!! I am kind of strange or eccentric I like to say so as everyone knows I am not wanting the normal all white dress... I am hoping I find another one that is multi-colored that I love like the other one I found or that they still have that one after I get the money for it!! Well that is all for now... kind of boring but hey its something :)
